Barizi is an exciting new bar set to open in Juba, South Sudan, designed to attract both tourists and locals. In developing the concept, I drew inspiration from the region’s striking natural beauty and local materials, incorporating organic lines and earthy tones that reflect the surrounding environment. The design pays homage to the unique textures and colours of South Sudan, creating a welcoming and authentic space that connects guests to the local landscape and culture.

Logo Design Inspiration
The Barizi logo reflects the spirit of South Sudanese culture through a modern yet organic design that pays homage to local flora, particularly the resilient sisal plant. Known for its hardy nature and versatility, the sisal plant has become a regional symbol of endurance and adaptability—qualities I wanted to embody in Barizi’s brand identity. Its long, flowing lines inspired the logo’s organic shape, designed to convey both strength and warmth.

The sisal plant’s organic form reflects not only a visual connection to the land but also a tactile one, as its textures are echoed throughout Barizi's interior elements. This connection to nature serves as a reminder of the South Sudanese landscape, bringing a piece of the outdoors inside and helping guests feel grounded and connected.

South Sudan: A Tapestry of Culture and Resilience

South Sudan is rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. Known for its stunning savannas, rivers, and wildlife, South Sudan holds a deep connection to its traditions and diverse ethnic heritage. Barizi celebrates this culture by incorporating these natural textures and landscapes into every design choice.
